BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (HONOURS) IN ARCHITECTURE
DESIGN PROCESS
MATERIAL APPLICATION OF HARPA CONCERT HALL
In this project, we are required to conduct a case study on a building of our choice, separating them into two different categories, structural components & architectural components. We are also required to do a background search on the respective architect. The materials chosen should correlate to the design concept of the building and have meaning to the building.
FINAL BOARDS
REFLECTION
Throughout the project, I've found out many meaningful facts about Harpa Concert Hall and surprised by the amount of meaning behind material choices. This can be seen through the usage of volcanic ashes to make the concrete around the building not only to save cost but to also use a material local to them which has become a symbol for the Icelandic people.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
I asked my friends for advice & criticism to improve my presentation board.
DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
I conducted deep research on a building and learnt meaning behind material choices.
THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
I modified my ideas based on the tutor's constructive criticism.
